Woodlands Church Family
Problem:
Previously known as the Woodlands Group of Churches - this incredible movement which started in 1983 has grown from a single church plant to a network of vibrant, creative and welcoming church communities in Bristol.
With that growth came one significant challenge: how do we demonstrate and communicate unity through our diverse communities and congregations?
Over time, the visual brand, language and strategy became ineffective and it was crucial for the longevity of Woodlands to clarify their brand strategy and develop a unified visual identity and language.
Solution:
We worked with the Woodlands Church Family to develop their brand strategy in line with their organisational goals, and created a new brand system to help them continue their growth in a sustainable and healthy way.
☑️ Brand strategy including thorough research with their key stakeholders and wider audience.
☑️ Updated visual identity and logo systems including parent brand, 10 sub brands, style guides and templates.
☑️ Future proofed and unified design system to help different expressions of the brand have freedom while having a ‘family likeness’, with room to continue growing.

The Woodlands Church Family are a source of hope, faith and community in Bristol and beyond - and it was a privilege to support them in this creative, strategic project.
We followed our proven process for solving complex charity brand problems by engaging key stakeholders with 1-to-1 and group interviews, as well as conducting audience research to get a better feel for the church brand and to collect some hard data to assist us with the next steps.
This phase included developing a clearer brand strategy, developing their understanding of self by exploring their brand personality, unique value proposition and point of view. We were then able to consider their audience personas, strategic goals and brand architecture (how do all the parts fit together).
With the brand strategy in place, we proceeded to the all-important visual update.
This included creating a brand system which included logos for the parent and sub brands, as well as fonts, colours and styles. Digital assets were built in line with the new brand, and we produced canva templates to empower the volunteer team with content creation.
The original collection of logos contained a lot of variety and led to a lot of confusion internally and externally.
There is now a brand system to help create new logos consistently across the Woodlands Church Family.
We want to say a huge thank you to Woodlands for trusting us with this special work. Find out more about Woodlands here: www.woodlandschurch.net
