Collaborate for change, using
The Lego® Serious Play® Method
LSP (for short) is a facilitation technique, which is used all over the world to help teams and individuals do three things:
Share Ideas
Engage in Dialogue, and
Solve Problems.
It’s been utilised in different contexts to achieve all sort of goals. It’s suitable for individual coaching, team building, clarifying vision, brand strategy, navigating change, career planning and exploring values. The method has been used by companies all around the world, including Google, Unicef, Yahoo!, Coca-Cola, Ferrari, Microsoft, Fed-Ex, Mastercard and Hilton Hotels.
The process (explained more below) is built around three core principles of building, sharing and reflecting, and it's a heck of a lot more than an ice breaker!
Get stuff done
We all know that 'regular' meetings can be a nightmare: Same place, same problems, no outcomes, feelings like your time could be better spent doing something else, one-way communication, one person doing all the talking while your team stays quiet...
The LEGO® Serious Play® method produces some of the best “meetings” we know of. They are:
🧠 Engaging and interesting
📣 Everyone has a voice
🗳 A truly democratic process
✅ Outcome-oriented
👋 Fun and hands-on
What actually happens in an LSP workshop?
Firstly, no two workshops look the same! That’s because they are custom-built to help achieve the goals we have set together.
Secondly, there are some consistent elements which make every workshop a huge success at engaging its participants and arriving at the desired outcomes:
1. Technical skills build
Gets everyone comfortable with using bricks to communicate ideas.
2. Challenge question
Custom challenges which are designed to engage everyone around a common focus.
3. Building and sharing
The fun part where we build our response(s) to the challenge questions and feed back.
4. Reflection
The most impactful moments in the workshop happen here. After the building and sharing, we seek deeper insight which helps us move towards a greater understanding of the topic at hand.
